Celebrating National Men's Health Month

In honor of National Men’s Health Month, Cork Medical’s Director of Clinical Operations Matt Cranfill shared his insight on two important men’s health issues, the role we play in helping patients, and most importantly, keys for prevention and good health.

According to Cranfill, the top health issues that would lead a patient to Cork Medical are diabetes and weight. Males in their late 40s to mid-50s make up a high percentage of Cork Medical’s patients and surprisingly, some even younger.

Diabetes is a very serious condition that affects your body’s ability to turn the food you eat into the energy your body needs to function. Skin and muscle tissue can become at risk for breakdown, particularly in sensitive pressure areas when the body is deprived of proper blood, oxygen, and nourishment. The role Cork Medical plays is important because its products truly saves lives when the disease progresses.

Cranfill advised the best prevention for avoiding these health risks are maintaining a healthy weight through proper nutrition and regular exercise, as well as managing diabetes with regular screenings from a healthcare provider.
